0 It's Official! Apple user's are not a "cult"...... more a "religion".

Scientists reckon Apple directly works on the bits of our brains that deal with religion, according to a BBC programme investigating brands.

Secrets of the Superbrands shoves an Apple acolyte into a brain scanner and records the physiological effect of gadget lust, with fascinating results.
Shown on BBC Three last night and available on iPlayer until 9 June, Secrets of the Superbrands shows tech-baffled presenter Alex Riley exploring the appeal of brands such as Nokia, Google and Microsoft. He starts the programme, and the series, with the world's biggest brand: Apple.
When asked what that person would be like if Apple was a person, answers ranged from, "spoilt... kind of snobby," to, "the sort of person who might invite you to their birthday party, but when you got there you'd be doing everything they wanted to." To investigate the cult-like following of the fruit-flavoured phone-flogger, the show gives an Apple apostle's bonce a once-over.
World of Apple blogger Alex Brooks, who's been to 30 Apple Store openings around the world, is bunged into an MRI machine to have his brain scanned for physiological responses to Apple. When shown pictures of Apple products, there's increased activity in the visual centres of his brain.
Saint Steve
Comparing the Apple fan's brain scan with the noggin scans of religious folk, neuroscientists noticed similar effects. Apple is often described as a 'cult', complete with temples, devotees and its own messiah in the shape of St Steve of Jobs -- not to mention the hysteria and madness surrounding every new product launch.
The programme witnesses this hysteria first-hand at the launch of the Covent Garden Apple Store alongside CNET UK's own Luke Westaway -- that's the back of Luke's indie feathercut taking pictures at 08:14 -- where Riley begins chatting with an employee of the store. Seconds into the interview, someone whispers in the Apple chappie's ear and he disappears, mindful of the code of omerta that Apple employees never talk to the press. That's unless they're anonymously spilling the beans, of course.

0 Get your Obama "Made in the USA T-shirt" from his campaign website.

His campaign is now selling T-shirts emblazoned with his face above the slogan "Made in the U.S.A." On the back is an image of his birth certificate. The fundraising pitch says the shirt is a "limited-edition" item.
Obama released his long-form birth certificate last month to prove he was born in Hawaii after billionaire businessman Donald Trump cast doubt on the authenticity of the his birth certificate.

Methinks he doth protest a little too much...

Is he really Hawaiian??
his "new" birth certificate would suggest so...
seeing as it was signed by "U K L Lee."

Is someone at the White house is having a a proper giggle with the play on words
as in "ukulele"?, the musical instrument's are very common in Hawaii...

0 Secret Service interrogates 7th grader over innocent Facebook Status

A Tacoma seventh grader faced federal interrogation at school for what he posted on his Facebook page.  His mom said it all happened without her knowledge or permission.

Timi Robertson said she had just finished lunch with a friend Friday when she got a phone call from her son's school.
"I answered it, and it's the school security guard who's giving me a heads up that the Secret Service is here with the Tacoma Police Department and they have Vito and they're talking to him," Robertson said.
After Osama bin Laden was killed, 13-year-old Vito LaPinta posted an update to his Facebook status that got the Feds attention.
"I was saying how Osama was dead and for Obama to be careful because there could be suicide bombers," says LaPinta.
A week later, while Vito was in his fourth period class, he was called in to the principal's office.
"A man walked in with a suit and glasses and he said he was part of the Secret Service," LaPinta said. "He told me it was because of a post I made that indicated I was a threat toward the President."

The Tacoma school district acknowledged a Secret Service agent questioned Vito and that it was a security guard who called Vito's mom because the principal was on another call. The school district said they didn’t wait for Vito’s mother to get there because they thought she didn't take the phone call seriously.
"That's a blatant lie," Robertson said.
The teen’s mom says she rushed to Truman Middle School immediately and arrived to discover her son had already been questioned for half an hour.
"I just about lost it," she said. "My 13 year-old son is supposed to be safe and secure in his classroom and he's being interrogated without my knowledge or consent privately."
The seventh grader said that once his mom showed up, the agent finished the interview and told him he was not in any trouble. Now he's more careful about what he posts online.
His mother says she isn't financially able to take legal action but hopes her family's story raises awareness about the treatment she said her son endured.
The Seattle branch of the Secret Service did not respond to requests for comment.

0 FLASHBACK 2006: Ray McGovern owns Donald Rumsfeld with one question.

The Daily Show had a grand old time of picking apart Rumsfeld and the blatant ass kissing media over Ray McGovern's question to "the Donald." After Rumsfeld denies saying he told us where WMD's were in Iraq. He plays older tape of Rummy telling us he knows ..

                   EXACTLY WHERE THEY WERE!

0 CDC Warns Public to Prepare for a 'Zombie Apocalypse'

Are you prepared for the impending zombie invasion?

That's the question posed by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention in a Monday blog posting gruesomely titled, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse." And while it's no joke, CDC officials say it's all about emergency preparation.
"There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for," the posting reads. "Take a zombie apocalypse for example. That's right, I said z-o-m-b-i-e a-p-o-c-a-l-y-p-s-e. You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency."
The post, written by Assistant Surgeon General Ali Khan, instructs readers how to prepare for "flesh-eating zombies" much like how they appeared in Hollywood hits like "Night of the Living Dead" and video games like Resident Evil. Perhaps surprisingly, the same steps you'd take in preparation for an onslaught of ravenous monsters are similar to those suggested in advance of a hurricane or pandemic.
"First of all, you should have an emergency kit in your house," the posting continues. "This includes things like water, food, and other supplies to get you through the first couple of days before you can locate a zombie-free refugee camp (or in the event of a natural disaster, it will buy you some time until you are able to make your way to an evacuation shelter or utility lines are restored)."
Other items to be stashed in such a kit include medications, duct tape, a battery-powered radio, clothes, copies of important documents and first aid supplies.
"Once you've made your emergency kit, you should sit down with your family and come up with an emergency plan," the posting continues. "This includes where you would go and who you would call if zombies started appearing outside your doorstep. You can also implement this plan if there is a flood, earthquake or other emergency."

The idea behind the campaign stemmed from concerns of radiation fears following the earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan in March. CDC spokesman Dave Daigle told FoxNews.com that someone had asked CDC officials if zombies would be a concern due to radiation fears in Japan and traffic spiked following that mention.
"It's kind of a tongue-in-cheek campaign," Daigle said Wednesday. "We were talking about hurricane preparedness and someone bemoaned that we kept putting out the same messages."
While metrics for the post are not yet available, Daigle said it has become the most popular CDC blog entry in just two days.
"People are so tuned into zombies," he said. "People are really dialed in on zombies. The idea is we're reaching an audience or a segment we'd never reach with typical messages."

0 The Queens visit Dublin- Irish flag banned under Public order offence

The powers that be have made the carrying of the Irish flag a Public order offence under section 21.I had earlier not consented to a search and was threatened with arrest under this act also.
http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1994/en/act/pub/0002/print.html#sec21

There is nothing under this section in the "act" that supports the banning of the flag??.....perhaps she got confused,
she may well have meant "section 7"
which states :
"Distribution or display in public place of material which is threatening, abusive, insulting or obscene."
section 7.(1) It shall be an offence for any person in a public place to distribute or display any writing, sign or visible representation which is threatening, abusive, insulting or obscene with intent to provoke a breach of the peace or being reckless as to whether a breach of the peace may be occasioned.

0 NATO airstrikes hit government buildings in Tripoli...destroying Police & Watchdogs investigations

Firefighters worked to douse flames as passersby gathered to gawk at the site of a pair of heavily damaged government buildings that Libyan officials said were hit early Tuesday by NATO warplanes.

One building housed a police investigations office whereas the other, just across the street, was known as the Ministry of Popular Inspection and Oversight, a watchdog agency that reviewed complaints of government and private-sector corruption, said Musa Ibrahim, a Kadafi government spokesman.

Flames engulfed both structures, in a residential neighborhood of the capita, as journalists arrived on the scene. Government officials have been busing journalists to sites they say have been hit by NATO warplanes.

On Monday evening, several loud explosions had been heard across Tripoli.

There was no word on casualties at the two sites. NATO had no immediate comment.

Among the watchdog agency’s many files, the Libyan spokesman said, were documents detailing the corruption of ex-regime  officials who have switched sides and joined the rebels fighting to overthrow Moammar Kadafi. The rebel leadership in the eastern city of Benghazi probably convinced NATO to target the ministry in a bid to destroy the evidence, Ibrahim alleged.

“In Benghazi you  are dealing with people you should not trust,” the government spokesman declared in a message directed to NATO.

The files, he said, had survived and would be made available to Western governments if they were interested.

0 IMF head Strauss-Kahn pulled off plane, arrested in alleged sodomy of hotel maid

The French political bigshot who heads the International Monetary Fund was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a Manhattan hotel maid today — hauled off an Air France flight just moments before takeoff from Kennedy Airport, police sources said.

Three Port Authority detectives pulled Dominique Strauss-Kahn from the plane’s first-class cabin just two minutes before it was due to depart for Paris, according to police sources.

For some reason the NY Post Could not find this more Recent Photo.

Strauss-Kahn, 62 — who was expected to challenge Nicholas Sarkozy in the 2012 French presidential election — was turned over to NYPD officers and brought to the Special Victims Unit’s uptown squadroom.
The trouble began around noon, when a 32-year-old housekeeper entered Strauss-Kahn’s room at the Sofitel on West 44th Street — apparently unaware he was still inside.
The married Strauss-Kahn was in his bathroom, said sources. He emerged naked, grabbed her and "he jumps her," a source said.
Then, Strauss-Kahn allegedly threw the housekeeper on the room’s bed and forced her to perform oral sex on him, said the sources.

0 Secret 800 man Desert Force Set Up by Blackwater’s Founder

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Late one night last November, a plane carrying dozens of Colombian men touched down in this glittering seaside capital.

Whisked through customs by an Emirati intelligence officer, the group boarded an unmarked bus and drove roughly 20 miles to a windswept military complex in the desert sand.
The Colombians had entered the United Arab Emirates posing as construction workers. In fact, they were soldiers for a secret American-led mercenary army being built by Erik Prince, the billionaire founder of Blackwater Worldwide, with $529 million from the oil-soaked sheikdom.
Mr. Prince, who resettled here last year after his security business faced mounting legal problems in the United States, was hired by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi to put together an 800-member battalion of foreign troops for the U.A.E., according to former employees on the project, American officials and corporate documents obtained by The New York Times.
