0 Iceland's Grimsvotn volcano erupts

Ash from a massive plume of smoke from an eruption of Iceland's most active volcano could spread south to parts of Europe next week, but experts on Sunday still hoped the impact on air travel would be limited.

The eruption at Grimsvotn has so far hit only Iceland, where the civil aviation authority said the prospects for re-opening the main international airport on Monday were not good.
A thick cloud of ash blocked out the daylight at towns and villages at the foot of the glacier where the volcano lies and covered cars and buildings.
The eruption was much stronger than the one at a volcano further south last year which closed European airspace and halted transatlantic flights, due to worries particles could get into engines and cause accidents.
Iceland's meteorological office said the plume from Grimsvotn, which last exploded in 2004, had fallen to 10 to 15 km in height from a peak of 25 km (16 miles).
Europe's air traffic control organization warned on its website of a possible spread.
"Ash cloud is expected to reach North Scotland on Tuesday 24th May. If volcanic emissions continue with same intensity, cloud might reach west French airspace and north Spain on Thursday 26th May," it said in a traffic bulletin.
Others said the impact on air travel this time would be more limited as winds were more favorable, the content of the plume was heavier therefore less likely to spread and authorities now had a higher tolerance for ash levels.
"It could lead to some disruption, but only for a very limited time and only over a very limited area," said University of Iceland Professor of Geophysics Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson.
"We see some signs that the power is declining a bit, but it is still quite powerful," Gudmundsson said, adding that the eruption was the most violent at the volcano since 1873.
Icelandair, the main airline on the island, stopped flights on Sunday and said on its website the halt could continue on Monday. It said 6,000 passengers had been affected by cancellations so far.
BLACK AS NIGHT
Gudmundsson said the wind direction was different this year, meaning the ash was falling mainly around Iceland. "But also very importantly the rules that apply today and the models are very different. The tolerance is much higher," he said.
Dave Mcgarvie, volcanologist at Britain's Open University, agreed. He said any ash which reached Britain would be less than last year and added that experience gained since the 2010 eruption would lead to less disruption.
In emailed comments, he said "minor re-routing" should enable aircraft to avoid zones where ash is concentrated.
The new eruption at Grimsvotn, which last exploded in 2004, sent up a huge bubbling mass of ash and smoke, which seeped above the clouds high over the North Atlantic island.
Grimsvotn lies under the Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland, the largest glacier in Europe.
Areas to the south of glacier have been covered in thick layers of ash and the sun was blocked out for several hours.
"It was like night is during the winter," said Benedikt Larusson, speaking in the town of Kirkjubaejarklaustur.
"Now it is a little bit better. Now I can see about 100 metres, but before it was about 1 meter."

0 It's Official! Apple user's are not a "cult"...... more a "religion".

Scientists reckon Apple directly works on the bits of our brains that deal with religion, according to a BBC programme investigating brands.

Secrets of the Superbrands shoves an Apple acolyte into a brain scanner and records the physiological effect of gadget lust, with fascinating results.
Shown on BBC Three last night and available on iPlayer until 9 June, Secrets of the Superbrands shows tech-baffled presenter Alex Riley exploring the appeal of brands such as Nokia, Google and Microsoft. He starts the programme, and the series, with the world's biggest brand: Apple.
When asked what that person would be like if Apple was a person, answers ranged from, "spoilt... kind of snobby," to, "the sort of person who might invite you to their birthday party, but when you got there you'd be doing everything they wanted to." To investigate the cult-like following of the fruit-flavoured phone-flogger, the show gives an Apple apostle's bonce a once-over.
World of Apple blogger Alex Brooks, who's been to 30 Apple Store openings around the world, is bunged into an MRI machine to have his brain scanned for physiological responses to Apple. When shown pictures of Apple products, there's increased activity in the visual centres of his brain.
Saint Steve
Comparing the Apple fan's brain scan with the noggin scans of religious folk, neuroscientists noticed similar effects. Apple is often described as a 'cult', complete with temples, devotees and its own messiah in the shape of St Steve of Jobs -- not to mention the hysteria and madness surrounding every new product launch.
The programme witnesses this hysteria first-hand at the launch of the Covent Garden Apple Store alongside CNET UK's own Luke Westaway -- that's the back of Luke's indie feathercut taking pictures at 08:14 -- where Riley begins chatting with an employee of the store. Seconds into the interview, someone whispers in the Apple chappie's ear and he disappears, mindful of the code of omerta that Apple employees never talk to the press. That's unless they're anonymously spilling the beans, of course.

0 Get your Obama "Made in the USA T-shirt" from his campaign website.

His campaign is now selling T-shirts emblazoned with his face above the slogan "Made in the U.S.A." On the back is an image of his birth certificate. The fundraising pitch says the shirt is a "limited-edition" item.
Obama released his long-form birth certificate last month to prove he was born in Hawaii after billionaire businessman Donald Trump cast doubt on the authenticity of the his birth certificate.

Methinks he doth protest a little too much...

Is he really Hawaiian??
his "new" birth certificate would suggest so...
seeing as it was signed by "U K L Lee."

Is someone at the White house is having a a proper giggle with the play on words
as in "ukulele"?, the musical instrument's are very common in Hawaii...

0 Secret Service interrogates 7th grader over innocent Facebook Status

A Tacoma seventh grader faced federal interrogation at school for what he posted on his Facebook page.  His mom said it all happened without her knowledge or permission.

Timi Robertson said she had just finished lunch with a friend Friday when she got a phone call from her son's school.
"I answered it, and it's the school security guard who's giving me a heads up that the Secret Service is here with the Tacoma Police Department and they have Vito and they're talking to him," Robertson said.
After Osama bin Laden was killed, 13-year-old Vito LaPinta posted an update to his Facebook status that got the Feds attention.
"I was saying how Osama was dead and for Obama to be careful because there could be suicide bombers," says LaPinta.
A week later, while Vito was in his fourth period class, he was called in to the principal's office.
"A man walked in with a suit and glasses and he said he was part of the Secret Service," LaPinta said. "He told me it was because of a post I made that indicated I was a threat toward the President."

The Tacoma school district acknowledged a Secret Service agent questioned Vito and that it was a security guard who called Vito's mom because the principal was on another call. The school district said they didn’t wait for Vito’s mother to get there because they thought she didn't take the phone call seriously.
"That's a blatant lie," Robertson said.
The teen’s mom says she rushed to Truman Middle School immediately and arrived to discover her son had already been questioned for half an hour.
"I just about lost it," she said. "My 13 year-old son is supposed to be safe and secure in his classroom and he's being interrogated without my knowledge or consent privately."
The seventh grader said that once his mom showed up, the agent finished the interview and told him he was not in any trouble. Now he's more careful about what he posts online.
His mother says she isn't financially able to take legal action but hopes her family's story raises awareness about the treatment she said her son endured.
The Seattle branch of the Secret Service did not respond to requests for comment.

0 FLASHBACK 2006: Ray McGovern owns Donald Rumsfeld with one question.

The Daily Show had a grand old time of picking apart Rumsfeld and the blatant ass kissing media over Ray McGovern's question to "the Donald." After Rumsfeld denies saying he told us where WMD's were in Iraq. He plays older tape of Rummy telling us he knows ..

0 CDC Warns Public to Prepare for a 'Zombie Apocalypse'

Are you prepared for the impending zombie invasion?

That's the question posed by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention in a Monday blog posting gruesomely titled, "Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse." And while it's no joke, CDC officials say it's all about emergency preparation.
"There are all kinds of emergencies out there that we can prepare for," the posting reads. "Take a zombie apocalypse for example. That's right, I said z-o-m-b-i-e a-p-o-c-a-l-y-p-s-e. You may laugh now, but when it happens you'll be happy you read this, and hey, maybe you'll even learn a thing or two about how to prepare for a real emergency."
The post, written by Assistant Surgeon General Ali Khan, instructs readers how to prepare for "flesh-eating zombies" much like how they appeared in Hollywood hits like "Night of the Living Dead" and video games like Resident Evil. Perhaps surprisingly, the same steps you'd take in preparation for an onslaught of ravenous monsters are similar to those suggested in advance of a hurricane or pandemic.
"First of all, you should have an emergency kit in your house," the posting continues. "This includes things like water, food, and other supplies to get you through the first couple of days before you can locate a zombie-free refugee camp (or in the event of a natural disaster, it will buy you some time until you are able to make your way to an evacuation shelter or utility lines are restored)."
Other items to be stashed in such a kit include medications, duct tape, a battery-powered radio, clothes, copies of important documents and first aid supplies.
"Once you've made your emergency kit, you should sit down with your family and come up with an emergency plan," the posting continues. "This includes where you would go and who you would call if zombies started appearing outside your doorstep. You can also implement this plan if there is a flood, earthquake or other emergency."

The idea behind the campaign stemmed from concerns of radiation fears following the earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan in March. CDC spokesman Dave Daigle told FoxNews.com that someone had asked CDC officials if zombies would be a concern due to radiation fears in Japan and traffic spiked following that mention.
"It's kind of a tongue-in-cheek campaign," Daigle said Wednesday. "We were talking about hurricane preparedness and someone bemoaned that we kept putting out the same messages."
While metrics for the post are not yet available, Daigle said it has become the most popular CDC blog entry in just two days.
"People are so tuned into zombies," he said. "People are really dialed in on zombies. The idea is we're reaching an audience or a segment we'd never reach with typical messages."

0 The Queens visit Dublin- Irish flag banned under Public order offence

The powers that be have made the carrying of the Irish flag a Public order offence under section 21.I had earlier not consented to a search and was threatened with arrest under this act also.
http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1994/en/act/pub/0002/print.html#sec21

There is nothing under this section in the "act" that supports the banning of the flag??.....perhaps she got confused,
she may well have meant "section 7"
which states :
"Distribution or display in public place of material which is threatening, abusive, insulting or obscene."
section 7.(1) It shall be an offence for any person in a public place to distribute or display any writing, sign or visible representation which is threatening, abusive, insulting or obscene with intent to provoke a breach of the peace or being reckless as to whether a breach of the peace may be occasioned.

0 NATO airstrikes hit government buildings in Tripoli...destroying Police & Watchdogs investigations

Firefighters worked to douse flames as passersby gathered to gawk at the site of a pair of heavily damaged government buildings that Libyan officials said were hit early Tuesday by NATO warplanes.

One building housed a police investigations office whereas the other, just across the street, was known as the Ministry of Popular Inspection and Oversight, a watchdog agency that reviewed complaints of government and private-sector corruption, said Musa Ibrahim, a Kadafi government spokesman.

Flames engulfed both structures, in a residential neighborhood of the capita, as journalists arrived on the scene. Government officials have been busing journalists to sites they say have been hit by NATO warplanes.

On Monday evening, several loud explosions had been heard across Tripoli.

There was no word on casualties at the two sites. NATO had no immediate comment.

Among the watchdog agency’s many files, the Libyan spokesman said, were documents detailing the corruption of ex-regime  officials who have switched sides and joined the rebels fighting to overthrow Moammar Kadafi. The rebel leadership in the eastern city of Benghazi probably convinced NATO to target the ministry in a bid to destroy the evidence, Ibrahim alleged.

“In Benghazi you  are dealing with people you should not trust,” the government spokesman declared in a message directed to NATO.

The files, he said, had survived and would be made available to Western governments if they were interested.

0 IMF head Strauss-Kahn pulled off plane, arrested in alleged sodomy of hotel maid

The French political bigshot who heads the International Monetary Fund was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a Manhattan hotel maid today — hauled off an Air France flight just moments before takeoff from Kennedy Airport, police sources said.

Three Port Authority detectives pulled Dominique Strauss-Kahn from the plane’s first-class cabin just two minutes before it was due to depart for Paris, according to police sources.

For some reason the NY Post Could not find this more Recent Photo.

Strauss-Kahn, 62 — who was expected to challenge Nicholas Sarkozy in the 2012 French presidential election — was turned over to NYPD officers and brought to the Special Victims Unit’s uptown squadroom.
The trouble began around noon, when a 32-year-old housekeeper entered Strauss-Kahn’s room at the Sofitel on West 44th Street — apparently unaware he was still inside.
The married Strauss-Kahn was in his bathroom, said sources. He emerged naked, grabbed her and "he jumps her," a source said.
Then, Strauss-Kahn allegedly threw the housekeeper on the room’s bed and forced her to perform oral sex on him, said the sources.

0 Secret 800 man Desert Force Set Up by Blackwater’s Founder

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Late one night last November, a plane carrying dozens of Colombian men touched down in this glittering seaside capital.

Whisked through customs by an Emirati intelligence officer, the group boarded an unmarked bus and drove roughly 20 miles to a windswept military complex in the desert sand.
The Colombians had entered the United Arab Emirates posing as construction workers. In fact, they were soldiers for a secret American-led mercenary army being built by Erik Prince, the billionaire founder of Blackwater Worldwide, with $529 million from the oil-soaked sheikdom.
Mr. Prince, who resettled here last year after his security business faced mounting legal problems in the United States, was hired by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi to put together an 800-member battalion of foreign troops for the U.A.E., according to former employees on the project, American officials and corporate documents obtained by The New York Times.

0 New High Tech Taser's being used in US

Bartow, Florida - There's a new taser in town that looks like something out of a James Bond movie. It packs a powerful punch and can stop the bad guys in their tracks longer than a stun gun can.

Polk County Sheriff's Office SWAT team members say the taser has already saved lives.

They point to a terrifying scene from inside an Auburndale home last Christmas when a convicted sex offender, 27-year-old Jason Robinson, was accused of brutally attacking his brother and threatening to kill the entire family.

In victim's statements to police Jason's brother Adam Lee Robinson explained to detectives after the alleged incident, "He starts stomping on my ribs and he actually jumps up and stomps on my testicle."

Jason is accused of barricading himself inside the house and that's when the Polk County SWAT team members moved in. Paul Butler is a member of the SWAT team and says, "So we pushed the front door of the house open with that to try to get his attention. I  utilized a shotgun that we have with the TASER XREP round."

Polk County Sheriff's Office is one of only about two dozen law enforcement agencies in Florida using the powerful new TASER Extended Range Electronic Projectile (XREP).

It's fired from a 12 gauge shotgun from up to a 100 feet away. It's 14 grams, has wing like fins that spread open as it takes flight.  It has painful probes and pins that stick into your body. It packs all the powerful punch and stopping power of a stun gun and is enclosed in a 12 gauge shotgun shell and when it hits you it locks up your muscles.

John Angleton is the taser coordinator for the sheriff's office and says, "It's the most excruciating pain imaginable. It locks everything up. For one you cannot move. You can breathe because you're screaming at the top of your lungs."

The TASER XREP keeps a suspect down for 20 seconds instead of 5 seconds which is how long the traditional taser keeps a suspect down. The traditional taser also has to be fired from a closer range within 21 feet.

While TASER XREP rounds cost a hundred dollars each SWAT team members say they're worth the price because they save lives.

They say the rounds saved Jason Robinson's life.  Deputy Butler says, "When he fell - he fell within inches of a butcher knife that was on the floor but thankfully he fell on top the XREP round. That round immobilized him and allowed us to get in and secure him."

Butler adds, "So that 20 seconds gives us plenty of time to get into the home or get into wherever we're at or close the distance between us and the suspect and take them into custody before they're able to do something to harm themselves
or harm us."

The TASER XREP is only available to law enforcement agencies and not the general public. While the cartridges are expensive Polk County Sheriff's Office only allows their SWAT team to use them.

0 Al-Qaeda's in the Arabian Peninsula

"The truth is, there is no Islamic army or terrorist group called Al Qaida.

And any informed intelligence officer knows this. But there is a propaganda campaign to make the public believe in the presence of an identified entity representing the 'devil' only in order to drive the TV watcher to accept a unified international leadership for a war against terrorism. The country behind this propaganda is the US . . ." -- Pierre-Henri Bunel

"Ana raicha Al Qaeda" is colloquial for "I'm going to the toilet". A very common and widespread use of the word "Al-Qaeda" in different Arab countries in the public language is for the toilet bowl. This name comes from the Arabic verb "Qa'ada" which mean "to sit", pertinently, on the "Toilet Bowl". In most Arabs homes there are two kinds of toilets: "Al-Qaeda" also called the "Hamam Franji" or foreign toilet, and "Hamam Arabi" or "Arab toilet" which is a hole in the ground. Lest we forget it, the potty used by small children is called "Ma Qa'adia" or "Little Qaeda".

So, if you were forming a terrorist group, would you call yourself, "The Toilet"?

0 Inside Osama's squalid hideaway: New pictures emerge as White House gets set to release Bin Laden home videos

The daily mail is really hitting the FLIP FLOP switch in it's reporting of the circumstances surrounding "Bin Laden's Death"

One minute they seem to be supporting the idea....then the next they seem to be saying "it's all poppycock!"

Daily mail:
  • Shaky footage shows litter-strewn compound in barely habitable state
  • U.S. may also release home videos found during raid
  • House worth no more than $250,000 say experts
Extraordinary footage of Osama Bin Laden's secret compound in Abbottabad show the terror leader had been living in virtual squalor.
Strewn with rubbish and with paint peeling off the walls, the dirt-infested compound appears barely habitable and is a far cry from initial claims the compound was a sophisticated £1m hideaway.
The ramshackle structure resembles like a building site and the pictures of the outside show steel rods protruding from the roof, suggesting it may have been incomplete.
Of course, some damage would have been caused during the American Navy Seal mission to capture the 9/11 mastermind, but the footage is still very revealing.

It was released today on the Al Jazeera English website and gives a shaky tour of what appears to be the inside of the main house, a few outbuildings and a small fruitless orchard.
The video emerged as it was revealed that home videos and propaganda tapes that were found in the compound may be released which show Bin Laden strolling around his secret lair.
U.S. officials aid they may even be put out later today.

The stash is part of a wealth of information collected during the U.S. raid that killed Bin Laden and four others last week.
The information suggests Bin Laden played a strong role in planning and directing attacks by Al-Qaeda and its affiliates in Yemen and Somalia, two senior officials said.

The Al Jazeera video above is the most unconvincing thing I've seen throughout this whole thing.....it's basically just a loop that could really have been filmed anywhere.....but that's the point!!...this whole story has backfired badly!..now it's the paid media's job of covering it up, by throwing any and every bit of confusion at this thing now, so people can't put the pieces together...and will argue about the where's & how's instead of WHO PROFITS?

ARE WE MEANT TO BELIEVE THEY FOUND LAPTOP'S & COMPUTERS IN THERE??....WERE DID THEY PLUG THEM IN??....DO YOU SEE ANY SIGNS OF ELECTRICITY?????

0 Another Faked Bin Laden Propaganda Photo shows up

Startling insight into the life of Bin Laden's young wife who gave up everything for terror chief.

 From
excerpt of article:
Taking a bullet for your husband and agreeing to live in a cave for him are surely the biggest gestures of love a woman can make.
But these are just days in the life of the wife of Osama bin Laden who - until Monday - was America's most wanted terrorist.
Amal Ahmed Abdul Fatah - thought to be Bin Laden's fifth and final wife - was shot in the calf when she charged at the Navy SEALs who stormed the room she had been living in with her husband for the last five years.
As Pakistani authorities took hold of the woman and her young daughter Safiyah, they hoped that questioning her could provide intricate details into the life of America's most hated enemy.
The article carries the following Badly Photoshopped photograph....which I've highlighted:

I thought I could do a better job myself.....the following took me around 15 minutes..and I'm a long long way from being any kind of "expert" at this...it ain't brilliant but it's better.

It's a wonder they didn't go the whole hog and have it dug up among the smoldering burning rubble...
on top of a burning Koran!!, as they did with one of the 9/11 hijackers passports.....

Are we really meant to just believe all these inconsistency's and out right lies surrounding this story of Osama's death?...
or is the real goal to confuse and mislead so much so...that people start to forget the main point is that he was very likely already dead and had been for some time?, at least ten years by most estimates.
During the late 90's he was diagnosed with a rare form of Kidney disease from that point on he required the daily constant help of a dialysis machine, these of which are surprisingly scarce in the middle of the desert.
Show me a VERY GOOD photo or video of a dialysis machine being removed from the so called " Compound" and I'd at least have a little respect for people propagating this story,
I still wouldn't believe it....but least we would know they were trying a little harder, and didn't take the public as complete idiots.

0 New research reveals conspiring conspiracy theorists

Conspiracy theories - such as those surrounding the death of Princess Diana - are more likely to be believed by people who are willing themselves to conspire, new research at the University has shown.

In a paper to be published in the British Journal of Social Psychology, Dr Karen Douglas and Dr Robbie Sutton, two researchers from the School of Psychology [1], found that - in keeping with the psychological process called projection - an individual’s perception that "I would do it" informs his or her perception that "they did it".
The research, titled Does it take one to know one? Endorsement of conspiracy theories is influenced by personal willingness to conspire [2], considered the responses of around 250 UK undergraduates to 17 major alleged conspiracies, such as the 'assassinations' of Princess Diana and John F. Kennedy, the 'faking’ of the moon landings and the 'orchestration' of the 9/11 attacks by the US government.
In the first study, participants were asked whether they would personally play a role in such conspiracies, if they had been in a position to do so. An example of this was 'If you were in the position of the government, would you have ordered the attack on the Twin Towers?' The more that participants indicated a willingness to conspire, the more they found the same conspiracy theories to be plausible, interesting, and worth considering.
Further, the researchers found that participants who were highly Machiavellian - defined as willing to exploit others for personal gain - were more likely to indicate willingness to conspire, and as a result, were more likely to believe in conspiracy theories.
In the second study, half of the participants were asked to remember a time that they had helped someone. The research team reasoned that this would temporarily enhance participants' sense that they are moral people. As expected, these participants, when compared to a control group, were less willing to conspire, and as a result, were less likely to take conspiracy theories seriously.
'We wanted to test a new explanation of why conspiracy theories are endorsed in an internet age when people have access to a matrix of often conflicting information from a variety of sources,' said Dr Douglas.
'We found that in their search for explanations under such uncertain and confusing conditions, people rely partly on projection - the assumption that others would behave much as they would.
'We're not saying however that all conspiracy theorists are immoral or that they have arrived at their beliefs through projection. It's important to note that other factors may lead people to believe in conspiracy theories. Also, our research says nothing about the truth or objective plausibility of such theories. However what we have shown is that one reason some people endorse conspiracy theories is because is they project their own moral tendencies onto the supposed conspirators', she said.

0 Could mainstream news media use this kind technology for Protest/Crowd control coverage?

Could mainstream news media use this kind technology for "false flag" or "Protest/Crowd control" coverage?...adding or removing the crowd...or even "buildings" as it sees fit, in an effort to make the TV viewer less or more concerned?.

It's been done many times before with far less style..but still produced the same goal.

Think for example the jubilation of the crowds during the pulling down of Saddam's statue at the end of the Iraq war,

all that took was a certain camera angle to make it seem that there actually were crowds....

0 Dr Sanjay Gupta Forgets the script on Anderson Coopers show when talking about Bin Ladens DNA

Obama's choice of  Surgeon General 2009, though he withdrew..many think he maybe just hasn't had his
"take one for the team & reap the rewards" moment yet.
Dr Gupta,  talking about how the DNA  Test done on Osama Bin Laden only took 5 hours....rather than the at least

48 hours it would normally take,  loses the script and gets nicely re-directed by Cooper...who then also struggles...with the most comical  nonsensical piece of ballcrap story to come out of Washington in....oooh...a decade?

Mike Rivero caught it just in time ;o)

Well, I am no expert, but it looks to me from the date stamps on this web page like the picture blasted all over Pakistan TV of the 'Osama' that was killed today ...

... might be a photo that was floating around the internet for the last few months...
And it appears to be photoshopped!

Here is the real Osama from about 15 years ago.

Now flip it left to right...

And compare the lower half with today's photo of the
                                                        dead  'Osama'!

There are other signs of photoshop as well, such as blurred edges on the beard and an obvious difference in sharpness between the eyes and the mouth, It looks like someone took a dead body and pasted the real Obama's mouth onto it to make it look more like him. Did Obama just fall for a dirty trick by Pakistan's ISI? Inquiring minds want to know! :) Mike Rivero

0 France says U.S. economy will get a boost from bin Laden's death

French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde on Monday welcomed the killing of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and said his death could bolster consumer confidence and economic growth in the United States.

Christine Lagarde
"The U.S. economy is like the American people. It reacts very quickly either positively or negatively," Lagarde told France 2 television. "I wouldn't be surprised if this event prompted a pick-up in confidence."
News that a U.S.-led operation had killed bin Laden in a firefight in Pakistan caused the dollar to rebound from a three-year low on Monday, and Lagarde said his killing would give a lift to U.S. stocks and other financial securities.
The death of the terrorist leader who masterminded the deadly September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, would help heal a wound that had been open for nearly a decade, she said.
Bin Laden had been the object of a search since he eluded U.S. soldiers and Afghan militia forces in a large-scale assault on the Tora Bora mountains of Afghanistan in 2011.

0 Had Essex Police overlooked rules governing the use of unmanned aircraft in the UK?

Essex Police to sell 'spy in the sky'

ESSEX Police is to sell off an unmanned aircraft dubbed the ‘spy in the sky’ because it has never been used.
The Force confirmed the machine, which was bought in May 2008 at a cost of £22,000, would be sold because it ‘does not offer value for money’.
The drone had never been licensed, despite the Force’s intentions of using it to monitor large events and track criminals.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We own an air robot which, to date, has not been deployed operationally while clarification was obtained regarding licensing legislation.
“We have since made an assessment of our assets and we are in the process of selling the drone.

“We would hope to get the £22,000 back but like most technology, the price would have dropped over the years.”
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed that Essex Police had not applied for a licence for the drone.
The CAA said it needed to be consulted over any use of the drones, which can fly up to 400ft and reach speeds of 30mph.
Essex Police also needed to gain permission to fly within 164ft of people and within 492ft of buildings.

Robert Chambers, chairman of Essex Police Authority when the decision to buy the drone was made, said: “I’m quite happy it’s not going ahead because I’d rather see police on the ground looking at things.
“Buying it was probably one of the mistakes I made, so I hold my hands up and say sometimes you get it wrong.”
He said it was a shame money had been invested but, in the context of the authority’s budget, it only equated to “half a police officer”.

A spokesman for the CAA said: “We’ve had no communication with Essex Police.
“The police can be exempt from a certain number of rules governing the use of unmanned aircraft provided they can show they are able to use them safely.”
