0 Senior official Nabil Shaath:"Peres, Abbas Were to Meet, Netanyahu Refused"

Fatah official confirmed there was a meeting to be held between the Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas and Zionist President Shimon Peres in a bid to resume “peace” talks.

Senior official Nabil Shaath on Tuesday told consuls and ambassadors in Ramallah city that a meeting was supposed to take place between Abbas and Peres at the request of the latter.
Shaath added that Peres later on decided to cancel the meeting after he did not receive the green light from Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

For its part Maariv newspaper had reported that Netanyahu foiled an intended secret meeting that was supposed to be held on Thursday between Peres and Abbas in the Jordanian capital Amman.
According to the report, Abbas responded to Peres' invitation and went to Amman for the meeting, but he was told that the meeting was terminated because Netanyahu did not accept the new suggestions to resume the talks with the Palestinian side.

This report really goes some way to showing just "Who" is being the unreasonable party here....it also goes to show just how "scared witless" they are of Israel.

0 Giant cables to link sub-station to Atlantic Array offshore turbines

A NINE mile long and 60 metre wide cable could be built across rural Torridge if plans for the Atlantic Array go ahead.

North Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm
Plans for RWE Npower Renewables include creating a new substation in Alverdiscott to connect the offshore windfarm to the national grid.
The three cables going from the station to the Bristol Channel will pass through many hamlets before going out to sea at the Cornborough Range near Abbotsham.
They will travel through the outskirts of Bideford near Gammaton Moor, just north of Tennacott before crossing the River Torridge at Hallsannery.
The cables will then pass north of Littleham, Moorhead and Winscott Barton before going through the village of Abbotsham and out to sea on the Cornborough Range.
The company said: "We have selected a route which seeks to minimise contact with houses and features of particular environmental interest, such as streams, woodlands and sites of archaeological interest wherever possible.
"Following cable installation, topsoil and hedgerows will be reinstated and replanted."
Devon County Councillor, Alison Boyle, represents Abbotsham.
She said: "When construction commences it will have an immediate impact on the farming operations of the landowners, and there may will be limitations on what landowners can do with their land once construction is complete.
"Landowners have been informed by the land agent acting for RWE that this is the chosen route, as against being previously referred to as the preferred route.
"I am not sure how much consultation has taken place with the landowners, but I know they have permitted a variety of environmental studies to be run."
Torridge district councillor, Kathy Murdoch, who represents the Abbotsham ward did not want to comment on the plans for the cable to go through the village.

Perhaps these people WOULD be commenting if they read the following story?, before having a 60ft wide cable plonked though the Village.

Official: Windfarms are totally useless.

The report, Analysis of UK Wind Generation, is the result of detailed analysis of windfarm output in Scotland over a 26-month period between November 2008 to December 2010 using data from the BMRS (Balancing Mechanism Reporting System). It's the first report of its kind, and drew on data freely available to the public. It challenges five common assertions made regularly by wind industry and the Scottish Government:
1. 'Wind turbines will generate on average 30% of their rated capacity over a year'In fact, the average output from wind was 27.18% of metered capacity in 2009, 21.14% in 2010, and 24.08% between November 2008 and December 2010 inclusive.
2. 'The wind is always blowing somewhere'On 124 separate occasions from November 2008 to December 2010, the total generation from the windfarms metered by National Grid was less than 20MW (a fraction of the 450MW expected from a capacity in excess of 1600 MW). These periods of low wind lasted an average of 4.5 hours.
3. 'Periods of widespread low wind are infrequent.'Actually, low wind occurred every six days throughout the 26-month study period. The report finds that the average frequency and duration of a low wind event of 20MW or less between November 2008 and December 2010 was once every 6.38 days for a period of 4.93 hours.
4. 'The probability of very low wind output coinciding with peak electricity demand is slight.'At each of the four highest peak demand points of 2010, wind output was extremely low at 4.72%, 5.51%, 2.59% and 2.51% of capacity at peak demand.
5. 'Pumped storage hydro can fill the generation gap during prolonged low wind periods.'The entire pumped storage hydro capacity in the UK can provide up to 2788MW for only 5 hours then it drops to 1060MW, and finally runs out of water after 22 hours.

0 Video: Mayhem in Cairo after Claims Mubarak has been Dead Since 2005.

A defense lawyer claims in court Mubarak died in 2005; mayhem broke out in Tahrir Square after similar claims of a “US-Zionist” conspiracy.

Will the real Hosni Mubarak please talk: A defense lawyer claimed in court on Wednesday that Mubarak died in 2005 and that an imposter has replaced him since then. Mayhem broke out in Tahrir Square after similar claims of a “US-Zionist” conspiracy.
Inside the courtroom, Mubarak, lying on a stretcher in the “cage” designed for the accused, managed to utter a “not guilty” plea to accusations of murder and corruption.
Hamed Seddik, a geologist at the National Research Center with a doctorate in law, previously has claimed that Mubarak died several years ago and that his defense minister, Hussein Tantawi, is responsible for the more than 800 deaths in the Arab Spring protests earlier this year.
Egyptian media have dismissed Seddik’s claims as ”rubbish,” the Ahram news outlet reported. Seddik mounted a platform in Tahrir Square and announced “the truth that will save all the Arab revolutions.”
Before being taken down from the podium Monday night by authorities, he said, “The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, which has been ruling the country since 11 February, know that the man in Sharm El-Sheikh is not the real Mubarak. The prosecutor-general knows, and all the political leaders know, including the leaders of the parties, movements, the Muslim Brotherhood group and the Salafists sheikhs, whom I demand to reveal the truth and urge Egyptians to stay in Tahrir as a way of Jihad.”
After he was taken off the stage, clashes broke out, complete with stone-throwing, between opponents of Mubarak and his loyalists.
Mubarak had not been seen in public from February 10th until the trial began Wednesday, sparking speculation that he died or escaped to another country, possibly Saudi Arabia.

0 USA focuses on Ebola vaccine but research gaps remain

The United States has backed efforts to develop a vaccine for Ebola, but specialists said scientists must look into a number of areas in pursuing defenses against the potential bioterrorism agent, The Lancet reported last week.

Weaponizing the Ebola virus appears to be a daunting task, the magazine said; the virus dies rapidly when exposed to sunlight, and the high speed with which it kills carriers minimizes opportunities for its spread.

Still, the Defense Department has provided $291 million for the development of two potential countermeasures for the Ebola and Marburg viruses at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Ft. Detrick, Md. Each of the highly lethal agents causes hemorrhagic fever in humans.
“There have been quite a few promising vaccine candidates in post-exposure treatment strategies that have successfully protected nonhuman primates,” said Thomas Geisbert, an expert with the University of Texas at Austin who led a research group that determined one such treatment was 100 percent effective in animal testing. A vaccine would be useful to laboratory personnel and to medical workers in areas where the virus exists in nature, according to the magazine.
“I would think we're years away from a licensed product and bringing the kinds of vaccines or therapeutics into the regions that actually need them”, said Heinz Feldmann, an official with the U.S. National Institutes of Health. High manufacturing expenses for such countermeasures could lead to significant procurement costs, according to the magazine.
Preventive efforts would be "cheaper and likely to be more effective in the long-run,” Feldmann said.
Further study is necessary. “One of the biggest challenges is to understand how the virus is being transmitted from the putative reservoir species to humans; or to other wildlife which then transmit it to humans,” the official said. "It's a totally understudied subject."
Also of concern is "that diagnosis, and confirmation of diagnosis, takes too long," according to Feldmann.
There have been situations in which diagnostic findings were not delivered for 10 days while Ebola spread through a population, said Esther Sterk of Doctors Without Borders. "We're lacking a biochemical and hematological test adapted to the field situations in which outbreaks usually occur," she said (Talha Khan Burki, The Lancet, July 30).

0 'FaceGlat': The Ultra-Orthodox Jewish answer to Facebook, Women to the left....Men to the right.

A new social networking site for ultra-Orthodox Jews takes customary segregation of the sexes online and also bars pictures or ads deemed immodest in ultra-Orthodox society.

Go to www.faceglat.com and the home page has signs in Hebrew and English directing men to click on to the right of the page and women to the left.
Sign up and you will see a page identical to those on Facebook, but here photos posted on a man's wall may only be of other men; likewise for the women's side.
The virtual divide mirrors the practice at Orthodox Jewish synagogues, weddings and other events where the sexes are physically separated. On certain public bus lines running through ultra-Orthodox neighbourhoods, women must stand at the back, to the outrage of feminists.
Israeli news website Ynet says FaceGlat -- Glatt is a term used in kosher food certification -- was founded by Yaakov Suissa from the Habad hassidic movement.
"It's not an alternative for Facebook, but something intended for a particular public," Ynet quoted him as saying.
"I believe that it would be much more convenient for a haredi (ultra-Orthodox) man or woman to publish pictures and all kinds of other things to people of the same sex only.
"People who are God-fearing and care about their children's education cannot tolerate the ads and pictures one sees on the regular Facebook," he said.
Men who sign in to FaceGlat as men cannot visit or post on the women's wall and vice versa, although at the moment there seems to be nothing preventing a member of either sex signing up under a false name and details.
Ynet says that plans for the site's future include modifications to prevent gender impersonation.

0 India to open Bio Safety Level-4 lab

India’s National Institute of Virology is in the final stages of completing a Bio Safety Level-4 laboratory on its Pashan campus in order to study dangerous diseases that could be used in a bioterrorist attack.

The levels of containment range from BSL-1 to BSL-4. BSL-4 labs are capable of safely containing the some of the world’s most deadly agents for study, according to ExpressIndia.com.

The laboratory at NIV’s microbial containment complex at Pashan is expected to be fully functional by November and will hold an assortment of diseases, including ebola, anthrax, lassa and smallpox.

NIV has imported a total of 12 biosafety suits with dedicated oxygen lines from Italy. Seven NIV scientists are scheduled to return from rigorous training in the United States that taught them how to safely operate a BSL-4 lab.

“This laboratory will not just be the first in the country but the only one in entire South East Asia,” NIV director Dr. A. C. Mishra said, ExpressIndia.com reports.

The Indian Council of Medical Research has, according to Mishra, set up a special group of engineers who will manage the facility. The core group will be responsible for training other engineers to run various BSL-3 facilities around the country.

“Virologists are always the first responders in case of any outbreak. Viruses can be used as a bioterrorism agent and the BSL-4 laboratory has been designed in such a way that it can detect the virus and counter any bio-terror attack,” Mishra said, ExpressIndia.com reports.

0 Swine Flu And Swine Flu Vaccines Are Really Good For You....Take Your Shot!

The first antibody which can fight all types of the influenza A virus has been discovered, according to American researchers.

Experiments on flu-infected mice, published in Science Express, showed the antibody could be used as an "emergency treatment."

It has already been suggested that some people who had swine flu may develop 'super immunity' to other infections. As a result, scientists from the Medical Research Council’s National Institute for Medical Research looked at more than 100,000 samples of immune cells from patients who had the flu or the flu vaccines.

From this sample, the researchers isolated the F16 antibody, which targeted a protein found on the surface of all influenza A viruses called haemagglutinin.

In the mouse model, scientists found that injections of the antibody protected the mice against lethal doses of the H1N1 virus, indicating “full protection.” Additionally, mice that were injected with the antibody up to two days after being exposed to the virus recovered and survived the flu.

This antibody cannot serve as a vaccine because it would need to trigger an immune system response. So its methods of enhancing protection are under investigation.

0 Fatal Radiation Levels At Fukushima Now 'Off The Scale'

LETHAL LEVELS OF radiation have been discovered in areas of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant almost five months after it was crippled by an earthquake and tsunami.

Plant operator the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) said radiation greater than 10 sieverts per hour was found at the foot of a ventilation chimney between two reactors, Reuters reports. According to the World Nuclear Association, a single dose of 10 sieverts is fatal, while just half that would kill 50 per cent of people exposed to it.

Radiation above 10 sieverts per hour could not be measured because that is the maximum reading on a Geiger counter, Bloomberg reports. Such high levels can cause the intestines to stop functioning properly and blood vessels to leak, according to radiation expert William McBride.
It is feared that radiation levels could have been this high since the initial disaster on March 11, but have only just been discovered. Al-Jazeera reporter Aela Callan said: “It is now looking more likely that this area has been this radioactive since the earthquake and tsunami but no one realised until now.”
A reading of 10 sieverts per hour is equivalent to 10,000 millisieverts – or 40 times the maximum dose of 250 millisieverts that workers at the plant are allowed to be exposed to.
Authorities in Ukraine, site of the Chernobyl disaster 25 years ago, have said they will donate 2,000 personal Geiger counters and 1,000 gas masks to the Japanese government to aid in containing the crisis. The equipment will be handed over on Thursday, Bloomberg reports.
Tepco has pledged to stabilise the reactors at the Fukushima plant by January.

0 UN becomes an independent Palestine's only option

The apartheid-inspired Israeli regime continues to go on rampage in illegally occupied Palestine, killing the defenceless Palestinians at will.

This context has been imposed in Mideast by USA-UK terror twins following their mischievous victory in the World War II, and now further reinforced by the notorious UNSC-NATO terror organizations, The lawless Israeli regime has even provided it with illegal nukes.

Ever since they were driven out of their homes by the criminal elements Israel’s Jewish population, Palestinians have been struggling to obtain an independent Palestine once again to live free from Zionist attacks and massacres and all the “talks” between them and the illegal Israeli occupiers have failed so far owing to the lack of sincerity on the part of the Zionist leadership as well as the western sponsors led by the unilateral USA.

The USA and Israel have objected to the Palestinian’s diplomatic offensive, calling instead for a resumption of direct peace negotiations. Leaders of both USA and Israel behave like dictators pushing through their own terms to Palestinians, rather than true statesmen trying to find credible solutions.

It seems like the Israeli Establishment’s Zionist ideology. and fascism are also synonymous with “democracy“. USA and Israel, as apparent joint terror twins, employ similar threatening tone regarding UN recognition of Palestine as a full member.

By withstanding all pressure and terror tactics of US-Israeli terrocraices, the Palestinians will seek full membership in the world body through the General Assembly. But the USA, Israel’s ally in humanity crimes, has threatened to veto any such measure, raising procedural questions about the Palestinian campaign.

Pro-West Palestinian leader Abbas acknowledged the internal obstacle of Palestinian bifurcation between Hamas in Gaza and the P.A. in the West Bank. He said, “God willing, Palestinian reconciliation will be achieved before we go to the UN.” Last month, the rotating president of the General Assembly said the body does not deal with membership issues absent an enabling resolution passed by the UNSC.

A close ally of USA and NATO, Israel also kills defenceless Palestinians and uses the corpses as a bargain chip with the Palestinian leadership over their freedom struggle for an independent Palestine state to be a full member of UN. A recent announcement by Israeli military minister Ehud Barak, former terror PM of Israel, that he had placed a hold on plans to transfer the bodies of 84 Palestinian terrorists killed in attacks on Jews has sparked outrage among Israelis who knew nothing about the plan until Barak’s announcement. Washington which claims to be crusader for the cause of freedom and democracy does not open its dirty mouth on the issue.

USA and its CIA-Pentagon-Mossad jointly oppose Palestine as well the sovereignty move legally though UN and, like the Jews, call Palestinians the terrorists. Palestinian diplomats gathered in Istanbul, Turkey, on 23th July to receive marching orders for a diplomatic offensive in support of plans to seek legal recognition of statehood at the UN in September overcoming all pressure tactics of fascist Israel and its allies. Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud ‘Abbas told his assembled diplomats that the UN gambit was forced upon the Palestinians by virtue of Israel’s refusal to “end settlement building and end the occupation. In an apparent response to critics who argue that the UN gambit is a unilateral act proscribed by the Oslo Accords,” and is therefore “not unilateral”, but Abbas reiterated that their decision to approach the UN after such long wait is not “unilateral”.

0 Israeli prison authorities deny the existance of about 1000 Palestinian captives

There are 7500 Palestinian captives in Zionist regime’s jails but Zionist authorities deny the existance of about one thousand of captives, only giving the list of about 6500 prisoners in 31 Israeli jails, visiting Gaza Minister of Captives Affairs Attallah Abu al-Sabah said in an interview with Qudsna correspondent in Tehran.

Among the captives, there are 300 children and 37 women, al-Sabah said, adding that about 1500 Palestinian captives are suffering from incurable diseases including cancer and kidney infection or disorder.
Torture, inhumane treatment, and long solitary confinement are some violations of human rights against Palestinians by the Israeli prison authorities, the minister added.

Some Palestinian captives have been held for more than 12 years in solitary confinement, he said.

Palestinian captives during interrogations are facing more than a hundred mental and physical torture methods including threats of murder, assassination, home demolition and rape, the minister said, calling on the Arab and Muslim leaders to put pressure on Zionist regime to comply with its international obligations.
The minister said he himself had experienced such inhuman treatment at the hand of Zionist regime during his three year imprisonment in Israeli jails.

0 WASP the small flying spy drone that cracks Wi-Fi and cell data

The safety of Wi-Fi networks may be in danger from small threats flying above us. An airplane hobby shop owner and an ex-Air Force official team up to create a drone that cracks into Wi-Fi and cell phones.

WASP_overview
Built by Mike Tassey and Richard Perkins, the Wireless Aerial Surveillance Platform (otherwise known as the WASP) is a flying drone that has a 6-foot wingspan, a 6-foot length and weighs in at 14 pounds.
The small form factor of the unmanned aerial vehicle allows it to drop under radar and is often mistaken for a large bird.
It was built from an Army target drone and converted to run on electric batteries rather than gasoline.
It can also be loaded with GPS information and fly a predetermined course without need for an operator.
Taking off and landing have to be done manually with the help of a mounted HD camera, though. However, the most interesting aspect of the drone is that it can crack Wi-Fi networks and GSM networks as well as collect the data from them.
It can accomplish this feat with a Linux computer on-board that’s no bigger than a deck of cards. The computer accesses 32GB of storage to house all that stolen data.
It uses a variety of networking hacking tools including the BackTrack toolset, as well as a 340-million-word dictionary to guess passwords. In order to access cell phone data, the WASP impersonates AT&T and T-Mobile cell phone towers and fools phones into connecting to one of the eleven antennas on-board. The drone can then record conversations to the storage card, and avoids dropping the call due to the 4G T-mobile card routing communications through VoIP.
Amazingly, this was accomplished without breaking a single FCC regulation. The drone relies on the frequency band used for Ham radios to operate. Not wanting to get into legal trouble with AT&T and T-Mobile, they tested the technology in isolated areas to avoid recording phone conversations other than their own. The duo will discuss how to build the WASP at the DEFCON 19 hacking conference starting Thursday in Las Vegas.

7 Debbie Schlussel Gloats Over Norway Killing...The True Face Of Zionism

Ultra-right-wing, Jewish-Zionist blogger, Debbie Schlussel has shown the ugliest side of American neo-Conservatism by saying the terrorist shooting spree at a Norwegian Labour Party youth camp was “karma” for the group’s political opposition to Israeli treatment of Palestinians living in Gaza and the West Bank.

Debbie Schlussel

Noting that a pro-Palestine rally was held at the camp the day before the shooting, Schlussel wrote on July 28 that “these hateful, privileged brats at the camp boycotted Jews and sided with Jew-killers. What goes around comes around.
You support terrorists against innocent civilians in Israel, then you get attacked by terrorists who are upset with your support.”

Norway has announced it will support a move by the Palestinian Authority at the United Nations to be recognized as an official state, should the matter come up for a vote this September.
The creation of a Palestinian state was a position endorsed by Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Many Israeli politicians, including current conservative Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have also approved of the concept.

“For me, this is like Alien v. Predator,” Schlussel continued. “I’m not sad for either side.  And I make no apologies for it.”

The political rally was held the day before the shooting

While claiming she does not “condone massacres on innocent civilians,” Schlussel wrote, “Now these kids’ families know what it feels like to be victims of the Islamic terrorists whose Judenrein boycotts and terrorist flotillas against Israel they support.
We don’t live in a vacuum.  I can’t feel sorry for those who support my would-be assassins.  And I don’t get too upset when they face the karma that is their fate.”

Her condoning of the “karmic fate” of the more than 70 massacered reflect the motives given by self-confessed killer, Anders Behring Breivik, who targeted the left-wing youth for their political party’s open-immigration and pro-Muslim policies.
A Christian Zionist, Breivik saw Israel as an ally against his own Crusade against “jihadism.”

Schlussel’s comments were roundly condemned by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), who noted that Schlussel essential said that “while she dislikes the wanton murder of unarmed children, the outcome of wanton murder can be considered righteous.”
The SPLC also notes that after Al Queda founder Osama bin Laden was killed in May, Schlussel called for the genocide of 1.8 billion Muslims, and an epileptic case of Schadenfreude when CBS correspondent Lara Logan was sexually assaulted in Cairo last February.

0 'Attack on LAF shows arrogant nature of Zionist entity'

Hezbollah statement calls gunfire exchange on Lebanon's border "surprising and provocative," equates it to attacking all of Lebanon.

The gunfire exchange between the IDF and Lebanese Armed Forces near the Hatzbani River on the Lebanese border shows "the true aggressive nature of the Zionist entity," UPI reported a Hezbollah statement as saying on Monday. The group called the incident "surprising and provocative."

Hezbollah equated an IDF attack on any member of the Lebanese army, the resistance, or civilian is equivalent to "an attack on all of Lebanon,"
stressing "complete solidarity with the Lebanese army...in the face of this arrogant, brutal enemy."

Five years after the Second Lebanon War broke out, Lebanese soldiers and IDF troops exchanged gunfire along the border earlier Monday.

IDF troops were operating along the border near the Hatzbani River when a Lebanese soldier opened fire at them. Israel returned fire at the Lebanese soldier. No IDF soldiers were injured in the incident. Lebanese media reported that one Lebanese soldier was injured from gunfire.
The IDF reported the incident to the UNIFIL force stationed in Lebanon along the border, stating that Israel was not interested in an escalation of violence.

The army added that they believed the incident was contained and it did not appear that a larger operation would follow.

Lebanese news website Naharnet reported that the LAF opened fire when IDF soldiers crossed over to the Lebanese side of the  border. The IDF emphasized that they were operating on the Israeli side of the border.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said that the soldiers "behaved like they were supposed to. They are determined to defend themselves and the border."

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Monday praised the Lebanese Armed Forces for confronting Israel in an the border clash.

Suleiman was speaking at a celebration marking Lebanon's Army Day.

0 Rare Russian tornado rips through town

One victim was killed by a destructive twister as it swept through Russia's Far East. 28 others were injured by the huge whirlwind, a natural phenomenon considered rare, not only for the region, but for the whole country.
The tornado tore through the center of Blagoveshchensk, tearing roof-tops and balconies from over a hundred buildings, overturning trucks, uprooting trees and ripping out power lines. It raged only for several minutes but eyewitness reported that it caused incredible damage. Most roads have now been cleared, but hundreds of homes are still without electricity.

0 The Noose Tightens Around Piers Morgan's Neck

Lispy CNN host Piers Morgan's increasingly desperate claims to have had no knowledge of phone hacking during his time as editor of the Daily Mirror just got a little harder to believe.

The Telegraph and Daily Beast have published audio of Morgan admitting to a BBC Radio interviewer in 2009 that he played all kinds of dirty tricks.
In the interview with BBC Radio 4's "Desert Island Discs," Morgan was asked about the "down-in-the-gutter stuff" that tabloid reporters get into, including specifically "tap[ping] people's phones." Rather than deny any phone hijinks, Morgan candidly acknowledged hiring private investigators for unsavory purposes:
Q: [P]eople who tap people's phones, people who take secret photographs, who do all that very nasty down-in-the-gutter stuff-how did you feel about that?"
A: Well, to be honest, let's put that into perspective as well. Not a lot of that went on. A lot of it was done by third parties, rather than the staff themselves. That's not to defend it, because obviously you were running the results of their work. I'm quite happy to be parked in the corner of tabloid beast and to have to sit here defending all these things I used to get up to, and I make no pretense about the stuff we used to do. I simply say the net of people doing it was very wide and certainly encompassed the high and the low end of the supposed newspaper market.
The exchange falls far short of the bald confession it was said to be when the interview's existence was first reported yesterday. (It's available online at the BBC web site, but British blogger Paul Staines, who writes under the name Guido Fawkes, first dug it up yesterday. He suggested to Forbes' Jeff Bercovici that it was incriminating and then, rather than post it or link to it on his own blog, provided it to the Daily Beast.) Nor is it exactly news: the Mirror was found by a 2006 parliamentary inquiry to have paid private eyes to violate British privacy laws at least 681 times. But it reveals as a lie Morgan's coy claim that he was largely unfamiliar with voicemail hacking when he was at the paper.
Staines has also dug up another instance of Morgan showing familiarity with phone hacking—and openly acknowledging publishing a story based on its fruits—in Morgan's 2009 memoir God Bless America: Misadventures of a Big Mouth Brit. In that book, Morgan openly refers to the Mirror's 2002 scoop about TV hostess Ulrika Jonsson's affair with soccer coach Sven Goran Eriksson as being based on phone hacking:
It was the Daily Mirror, under my editorship, which exposed Sven's fling with Ulrika Jonsson after learning of a similar message left by the then England manager on her phone.
Staines first broke open the floodgate of allegations against Morgan two weeks ago by claiming that the Jonsson story was based on voicemail hacking and that Morgan knew it was. So this latest tidbit would tend to vindicate him completely.
But there is one complicating factor: According to contemporaneous accounts of that story in rival papers, the Mirror basically stole it from the News of the World—then edited by Rebekah Wade—which had obtained the incriminating voicemails. The Guardian says the scoop was an "apparent spoiling operation." And Private Eye says the Mirror was either tipped off to the story by a disgruntled NOTW reporter or Jonsson's publicist, who may have been seeking a more favorable venue for the affair's outing. In other words, it's entirely possible that Morgan "learned of a...message" left by Erikkson for Jonsson because the NOTW had obtained it and someone leaked it to him. While that would technically contradict Morgan's claim that he never published a story based on phone hacking, it's a bit different from actually commissioning a hack himself.
That's not to say Piers Morgan didn't hack phones, or at least countenance such hacking. He obviously did. It's only a matter of time until the other shoe drops.

0 Palestine's dilemma

An electrifying drama is being played out now at the UN Headquarters in New York.

On one end is a state called Palestine. On the other end is a Zionist entity which has the trappings of a state called Israel. The entity is nervous.

UN Headquarters New York
This September, when the UN General Assembly is convened, Palestine will bid for UN membership. Israel will block this attempt. But she might not be alone in this effort. The United States will also be with her.

It is inconceivable that both these states will allow Palestine to be a member of the UN on her own volition.

But why is Palestine seeking membership to the UN now and on her own steam?

Ever since 1988 when the Palestine Authority started representing the interest of all Palestinians around the world, it has been able till today to get 122 countries to recognise Palestine as a state.

But in the last six months, many more countries have agreeded to grant her statehood.

In addition, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and the UK have upgraded the Palestinian General Delegations in their capitals to diplomatic missions or embassies. Such a status is normally reserved for states.

Mahmoud Abbas, Chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and President of the Palestinian National Authority (PA) has been encouraged by this development.

He wrote a post-editorial article in the New York Times on May 17 this year, saying: "This September, at the UN we will request international recognition of the State of Palestine on the 1967 border and that our state be admitted as a full member of the United Nations."

Thus Mahmood Abbas has outlined the Palestinian Authority's two-pronged strategy. First, to seek international recognition of Palestine as a state, and then her membership to the UN.

0 Iran-Iraq power grids to connect in three years

Iraq and Iran’s electricity networks could be connected within three years, according to Iraq’s energy minister.

In a report by the IRNA, the electricity minister, Raad Shalal Saeid said: “After the implementation of the agreement and the connection of the two countries’ electricity networks, a solid network would emerge and Iran’s electricity would be exported through it to Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon, controlled from a single centre.”

“In accordance with the reached agreements, the programmes would be implemented in separate phases and in each phase, the programme related to the next phase would be put forth for agreement.”

Then the US just happens to release the following story....Mmmm..Seems to two countries are getting a little bit too friendly for the US.

Obama's nominee for Joint Chiefs chair says Iran may be seeking a mass-casualty event in Iraq

Iran's stepped-up arming of Shiite militiamen in southern Iraq who are targeting American troops may be designed to trigger a "Beirut-like moment" of mass U.S. casualties, the Obama administration's nominee to be the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told Congress on Tuesday.
Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee, was asked by Sen. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., about a previous statement Dempsey had made in which he expressed concern that Iran might miscalculate the level of U.S. resolve to assist Iraq.
Dempsey said his Iraqi contacts have told him it appears "Iran's activities in southern Iraq are intended to produce some kind of Beirut-like moment and, in so doing, to send a message that they have expelled us from Iraq." He did not specify which Iraqis said this, although he noted that their view is "in some cases supported by intelligence."
Dempsey was alluding to the 1983 bombing of a Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. service members and drove the U.S. out of Lebanon.

0 The Big Picture: War on Libya is War on Entire Africa

In 2010 Gaddafi offered to invest $97 billion in Africa to free it from Western influence, on condition that African states rid themselves of corruption and nepotism. Gaddafi always dreamed of a Developed, United Africa and was about to make that dream come true – and nothing is more terrifying to the West than a Developed, United Africa.

Here is a selection of the initiatives Libya has already put in place in Africa, as well as some of the projects it is planning, explaining why the West’s illegal war against Libya also is a war against Entire Africa.

AFRICAN UNION:

Libya is one of the biggest contributors to the budget of the African Union. A Libyan diplomat told Reuters Libya is one of five countries — the others are Algeria, Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa — which cover 75 percent of the Union’s budget. “Libya makes its full required contribution to AU funds. Not all countries do and that buys it influence,” a senior African Union official said.

MALI:

For several years Mali has been confronted with the activities of the radical Islamist militia Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in its northern deserts. Gaddafi’s money and diplomacy have helped to resolve conflicts in northern Mali between rebels and the government. In 2010 Libya has given Mali two security planes to combat insecurity in the north of the country. These conflicts could flare up again if Gaddafi exits the stage.
Nowadays Gaddafi has many supporters in Mali who regularly march to protest against the Western-led military intervention in Libya.

CONGO:

Libya has put $65 billion into sovereign wealth funds, including one which is specifically designed to make investments in Africa. The Libyan Arab African Investment Company, a vehicle of Libya’s Africa sovereign wealth fund, owns Le Meridien, one of the biggest hotels in Congo. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment paid for by Libyan investment. In 2010, Libya planned to fund the building of a highway north of Congo’s capital Brazzaville, where also the building of a mosque is planned.

LIBERIA:

Libya has provided millions in investment projects, helping to strengthen the rule of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in one of Africa’s most impoverished nations. Gaddafi’s helpincludes the funding of a rubber processing factory built in Gbarnga, Bong County, a technical and vocational school for the handicapped, as well as Libyan assistance in helping Liberia tackle the food crisis and renovation for the Ducor Intercontinental Hotel.

NIGER:

Also in Niger Gaddafi has helped to prop up the government and the authorities would become more fragile without his financial help. Libyan Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmoudi visited Niger in August 2010 and announced the creation of a $100 million investment fund for Niger as part of a strengthening of bilateral ties. Under earlier agreements, Libya is contributing 100 million euros for the construction of a Trans-Sahara highway in the north of Niger, according to sources close to Niger’s foreign ministry. The local subsidiary of Libya Oil, along with Total, are the major players in Niger’s fuel retailing business.

CHAD:

Gaddafi has been a key supporter of the government, which would weaken if it lost his aid revenue. Chad has been plagued by civil wars and invasions after its independence from France in 1960. After years of unrest, Gaddafi seals a peace agreement for Chad between four Chadian rebel groups and the Chadian government in 2007, which agreement was signed in Sirte.
In 2010 Libya made a huge investment in Chad’s National Telecom, which meant a boost of the number of the Chadian mobile phone users from 100,000 to two million.

CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC:

Libya has helped to prop up the fragile government, sending paratroopers into the capital in 2001 to defeat a rebel assault. In 2008 Gaddafi played a role in the formation of a peace agreement between the government and rebel groups.

MAURITANIA:

Gaddafi was the first head of state to visit after a 2008 coup which brought President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz to power. Aziz, who subsequently won a presidential election, has visited Gaddafi several times since then. Even Mauritanian opposition politicians have gone to Tripoli to pledge allegiance to the Libyan leader. Mauritania has debts to Libya of about $200 million. During discussions on debt relief in May 2010, the Libyan Central Bank announced Libya would provide $50 in grants to build a hospital and a university. The university is to be named after Gaddafi.

SUDAN:

The 20,000-troop peacekeeping mission in Dafur, jointly supported by the African Union and the United Nations, could be hampered if the African Union (AU) loses funding from Gaddafi and destabilize the country. Gaddafi, who blamed the crisis in Darfur on Israel, made a number of attempts to broker peace talks between Darfur rebels and the Sudanese government.
In October 2010, Gaddafi warned ahead of a vote on possible independence for South Sudan that a partition of the country would be a “contagious disease” that could spread to other African states.

ETHIOPIA:

The African Union, based in Ethiopia’s capital, could find itself in financial trouble if it loses the massive support that Gaddafi gives it. Under his rule, Libya supplied 15% of the AU’s membership dues, and it also paid the dues of many smaller and poorer African nations.
To seek for a solution of the Eritrea-Ethiopia conflict, Gaddafi has sent a special envoy to Ethiopia in 2000. In 2008, Libya’s OiLibya bought Shell Ethiopia. This agreement also included retaining all Shell employees, who were hoping to work in a better environment since a long time.

SOMALIA:

The African Union peace keeping mission, whose 8,000 soldiers are crucial to the battle against Islamic radicals in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, could be severely weakened if the AU lost the financial support of Gaddafi.
In 2008 Libya decided to grant an investment fund to Somalia through the Sahel-Saharan Investment and Trade Bank to fund infrastructures such as roads and bridges within Somalia.

GAMBIA:

Libyan firms own two hotels and the “Dream Park” entertainment centre in Gambia. Gambian agriculture has received support from Libya, including a donation of seven new tractors. In 2009 Gaddafi gave two camels to Gambian President Yahya Jammeh as a gift. The Libyan and Gambian presidents have exchanged visits and senior Gambian officials attended ceremonies in September to mark the anniversary of Gaddafi coming to power.
On September 7, 2009, Gambia celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Al Fateh Revolution: “In Libya everyone enjoys Freedom!”.

0 'NATO after Libya's natural wealth'

"The NATO military coalition's “strategy is to install what will become a puppet regime ... in Libya and then its great oil resources will be turned over to the imperialist oil companies,” Richard Becker, with the ANSWER Coalition, said."

Becker further said that NATO started its air campaign over the North African country to enforce a UN-backed no-fly zone and protect Libyan people but the alliance's airstrikes are actually hurting Libyan civilians.

“Right now they have a blockade on Libya; they are trying to prevent everything from going in -- food, energy products, everything that people need -- in order to try and starve out the population,” he said.
NATO launched a major air campaign against the forces of the Libyan democratic government  in mid-March, saying the UN Security Council Resolution 1973 gave the military bloc a mandate to “protect the Libyan population.”
NATO has also recently intensified its attacks on Libya in an alleged attempt to increase pressure on popular Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The attacks by the US-led military alliance have nevertheless killed scores of civilians and wounded many others in key Libyan cities.

0 Video of Tripoli TV damage by NATO airstrikes

NATO warplanes bombed Libyan state TV satellite transmitters in Tripoli overnight on Friday. A series of loud explosions echoed across the capital before dawn. There was no immediate comment from Libyan officials on what had been hit, but state TV was still on the air in Tripoli on Saturday morning. NATO said the air strikes aimed to degrade Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's "use of satellite television as a means to intimidate the Libyan people and incite acts of violence against them". The attempt to silence the government's TV broadcasts comes at a sensitive time for the rebels, who appeared to be in disarray after the mysterious death of their chief military commander.
